[Gaming Sunday #1] You're gonna have more holes than a beehive!
Going to make this a weekly thing, so long as I keep gaming enough for more than a single paragraph and can think of what to write. It has a nice ring to it...and stops me cluttering up my journal during the week with random updates. Organization FTW. Etc.

In case the title didn't clue you in, this is an entry all about my progress in...

Why on earth did they change the name from "End of Eternity" anyway? It sounds so much cooler...not only that, but some of the shirts didn't get changed to reflect it; the Sega-style logos are all "EoE" rather than "RoF" which is rather odd...not that I use those shirts. Zephyr wears black, Vashyron is dressed like a retired military man, and Leanne wears white. I have patterns.

This is my third playthrough now. The first I ragequit for months, and the second I managed to finish, but gave up afterwards. This time I want to Platinum it. I have two weeks left to do it. So, how's progress?

Currently finishing up Chapter 13...I question the wisdom at the speed with which I've ploughed through the main story. There is this wonderful trick to grinding in the Arena, on Rank 20-3...here is a video, if you're curious. In Chapter 11, you get sole control of Zephyr, which makes that go by faster, since you don't have to skip turns. In Chapter 12, you get sole control of Vashyron. In Chapter 13, I just had sole control of Leanne. The problem is that grinding using that method is exactly as boring as it looks...I went from level 32 to level 50 in MG in about 45 minutes, but once you hit Level 50 you need 750,000 EXP to level up, as opposed to 500,000 EXP...and then 1,000,000 EXP per level at level 75. It doesn't get any more bearable, and I just don't have the patience for it.

Not only that, but sticking at Rank 20-3 means you can't get any more EXP Trainers, which double the rate of experience. They stack, and you can equip two per character...this is on top of the Exp x 1.5 and Double Amp (doubles effect of other terminals) I have connected to the Arena...that's Exp x12. The Arena is also HUGE; there are fifty ranks, and you need to do every rank ten times. I'm not sure it would be quicker...or, at least, necessary, because by the time I've done all that I'm going to be pretty far along in levels, and I've seen people doing Neverland at level 150...I spent a bit of time getting everyone's MG levels to 50, and now my overall levels are 95 for Vashyron, 90 for Zephyr, and 88 for Leanne.

Plus there is this little trick I stumbled across whilst checking out weapon customization videos...doesn't solve the problem of MG grinding without those blobs, but I think there are some in Neverland anyway, and that's INSANE. So long as I stick at Rank 20, I won't get to do that...so, I'm going to move on past it. Get myself five more EXP trainers, give everyone two of them, and wreak bloody carnage on the Arena ranks. Ahahahaha.

I'm being overly cautious, but in Chapter 14 the difficulty spikes again. The Aetersyl is absolute HELL, and I want to be fully prepared. I need to customize my weapons fully (finding parts is a bitch, though...I have no scrap parts for scopes; it's annoying) and I might do every rank of the Arena I've unlocked prior to doing it...that's likely to take me the entirety of next week, because that's about 300 battles I need to do, buuuut...eh, gotta do it somewhen, and it'll kick my levels up a few notches for Neverland.

I'm enjoying replaying this, though - it's been exactly a year, and I find the cast very endearing, and the battle system highly addicting. It's just murderously hard at times if you're careless...although it's been easier this time around, at least in the earlier chapters. Caligula Returns made me ragequit the first time around; I took him out in three Hero Actions this time. Better customization is a huge part of it, but...eh, maybe I've just gotten used to the battle system. I learned in my second playthrough you can plot your hero actions more accurately in terms of distance, as well as direction...that's helped; I've been landing either on ledges or behind cover. Plus the whole of levels 4, 5 and 6 are glowing blue after the hex farming I did.

Trophy wise...eh, I have all the Chapter trophies up to 12, obviously, and a fair few of the miscellaneous bronze ones now. Almost got the Level 100 trophy, and I'm not worried about the 3000 enemies/body parts trophies; I'll get those with the Arena. Same with the thrown weapons and no weapons trophies. The fusing and scrapping one will come when I start making crazy guns. I'll go for Resonance Miser late-game, when I have the max number of hexes...it's a stupid trophy. I'm 25 Bonus Hits off 100, last count. So, making progress...not really gunning for them, to be honest. I'll get them when I get them. Right now I'm more concerned with gearing myself up for the hell of the last three chapters and Neverland...

Still, I need a bit of variety. Think I'll start Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky again next week, for a little variety. Or maybe Corpse Party, which is now on my Vita. I have a bit more time to game now...

The hideous grinding is why I never finished this game. Well, that and the fact I couldn't follow the plot at all - it seemed incomprehensible even by jrpg standards. I will applaud the battle system though, the developers at least tried (and succeeded!) to make something different.

You should play Corpse Party. |3
